FAQ
WHERE CAN I GET AN E-SCRIPT?
From your Doctor! Simply tell your doctor that you would like an E-script instead of a paper one and they will know what to do.

HOW DO I ACCESS MY SCRIPT?
Your Doctor will either send the E-script via email or SMS text to your phone. Simply click the link that they send. This will lead you to the E-script page, where you will find a QR code. This QR code is what the Pharmacist will scan when they are dispensing your medication.
HOW CAN I FIND MY E-SCRIPT REPEAT?
In this day and age we all receive a lot of texts, and by the time you're due for your repeat, your E-script SMS probably won't be your most recent text. To find your repeat, simply scroll to the top of your text messages and either type in "E-script SMS" which is the name of the sender, or you can type in the name of your medication, eg "Metformin" or "Atorvastatin". Both of these methods will bring up your E-script.

WHY DOES MY E-SCRIPT SAY ITS ALREADY BEEN USED?
E-scripts are like paper scripts in terms of repeats, in that each repeat can only be used once. Once the medication has been dispensed, the same QR code cannot be used again. Instead, when your medication is dispensed at the pharmacy, they will send a new repeat that contains a new QR code for the next repeat of medication. Next time you need your script filled, use the new QR code (the most recent SMS message) instead of re-using the original or the first E-script QR code.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I ACCIDENTALLY DELETE THE MESSAGE?
Don't worry! Accidents happen. In the case that you accidentally delete the E-script SMS you can simply call your Doctor and ask them to send you a new one, same as if you were to lose your paper script.

DOES IT COST EXTRA?
No not at all! There is no extra cost, it is priced as the exact same as a paper script.

WILL ALL PHARMACIES BE ABLE TO DISPENSE MY E-SCRIPT?
E-scripts are able to be dispensed in the majority of pharmacies. If you are unsure about whether your local pharmacy dispenses E-scripts, we would recommend for you to call your pharmacy prior to putting your script in, to ensure that they do.

CAN I GET ALL MY MEDICATIONS AS AN E-SCRIPT?
Yes you can get all your medications as E-scripts, including Schedule 8 (restricted) medications.

CAN ANOTHER PERSON COLLECT MY SCRIPT?
Yes absolutely! If you are unable to go to the pharmacy yourself there are several options. You can either forward the E-script message, or even take a screenshot of the QR code, and send this to the person who is going to the pharmacy on your behalf. The person collecting may be asked for personal identification, so please ensure that they bring it to the pharmacy.

HOW LONG ARE E-SCRIPTS VALID FOR?
They are valid for the same amount of time that paper scripts are. Schedule 4 (regular) medications are valid for 12 months from the date you got it from your doctor. Schedule 8 (restricted) medications are valid for 6 months from the date you got it from your doctor.

IS IT SECURE?
Yes it is very secure. All E-script information is fully encrypted and is not shared to anyone without consent. You can be rest assured your E-scripts are as safe as your paper scripts!

DO I NEED ANY SPECIAL TECHNOLOGY TO USE E-SCRIPTS?
You don’t require any special technology, however you will require a smart phone.

CAN I SWITCH BETWEEN AN E-SCRIPT AND A PAPER SCRIPT?
Unfortunately you cannot switch between the two types of scripts for repeats of the same medication. If you have chosen an E-script for one of your medications, then any repeats will be sent back to your phone as an E-script. However, most pharmacies will be able to print out a piece of paper with the E-script QR code on it, if you would prefer that.
Its also important to note that if you try an E-script for one medication and end up not liking it, the next time you visit your GP you can ask them to switch back to paper scripts, you aren't locked in for life!

WILL PAPER PRESCRIPTIONS STILL BE AVAILABLE?
Yes absolutely. You can continue to use paper prescriptions if you don’t feel comfortable with E-scripts.
